News and analysis

Written from the warehouse, not from the timeline

Transfers, trends that are actually showing up in the numbers, and Fantasy Premier League guidance. Every post is drawn from the same database the product runs on, so a claim in a paragraph can be checked against the table underneath it.

Nothing published yet

This section is built and empty on purpose. Posts are generated weekly from the warehouse, and that job is not switched on — see how it works for what it needs first.

Rather than filling the space with something invented, it says so. A football site whose first three posts are plausible-sounding paragraphs nobody checked is a site that has taught its readers not to check — which is the opposite of the point of everything else here.

Dates that matter

Transfer windows, competition dates and international breaks, with the association that sets each one so you can check it. Generated from fplopt/news/calendar.py rather than typed here, so the page and the pipeline cannot disagree.

Generated 03 September 2026.

Every date here is a scheduled date set by the body named beside it. Kick-off times move, windows get deadline-day extensions, and competitions are reorganised. Fixtures cover Premier League, UEFA Champions League and international windows.

What will be here

  • Transfers — moves, and what the numbers say about whether the player does the thing the buying club needs.
  • Emerging trends — shifts visible in the data across a league or a position, with the window and the sample stated.
  • Fantasy Premier League — guidance for the week, including where the model disagrees with the crowd and where it has been wrong lately.

How these are written, and the rules they follow

Posts are drafted by a language model, on a weekly schedule, and every one says so at the top. That is not a disclaimer bolted on afterwards — it changes what the pipeline is allowed to do:

  • Every number comes from the warehouse. The model is given figures that were queried before it was asked to write; it is not asked to recall any. A statistic it cannot be handed is a statistic the post does not contain.
  • Every post carries its own evidence. The table the claims rest on is published with them, along with the date the data was read, so a reader can disagree with the argument rather than having to trust it.
  • News is attributed. A transfer or an injury is reported with its source and linked, or it is not reported.
  • No tips, no odds as advice. The same rule the product follows: market prices are recorded as prices, never as predictions offered for betting.
  • A person can stop one. Generated drafts land as a pull request rather than going straight to the site, so nothing is published that nobody has looked at.
